Quantity Surveyor (SM16)

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established M&E contractor based in Chancery Lane, London.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor with extensive ductwork experience to join a growing business and play an important role in managing the commercial performance of a range of ductwork and mechanical projects.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the ductwork industry and be confident managing projects from tender stage through to final account.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of ductwork and mechanical projects.
• Preparing and reviewing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Managing variations, change control and additional works.
• Reviewing subcontractor accounts and payments.
• Preparing cost forecasts and monitoring project expenditure.
• Reviewing contracts, specifications and drawings.
• Producing accurate cost estimates and pricing works where required.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Managing and maintaining good commercial relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assisting with tender submissions and reviewing tender returns.
• Ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed budgets and commercial objectives.
• Working closely with Project Managers and operational teams to ensure commercial matters are identified and dealt with promptly.
• Preparing regular commercial reports for senior management.
• Taking projects through to successful commercial completion and final account settlement.

Essential Experience

The successful candidate must have:

• Extensive Quantity Surveying experience within the ductwork sector.
• A strong understanding of commercial ductwork projects and installation.
• Experience managing subcontract packages and variations.
• Experience with valuations, applications, payments and final accounts.
• Strong contract and commercial awareness.
• Experience working with drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• A commercially minded and proactive approach.

Desirable

• Experience within the wider M&E / mechanical services sector.
• Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent commercial experience.
• Experience working on major London projects.
• Experience with NEC, JCT or other standard forms of construction contract.
